Preface of the book

​

”The activities, text-music and performance pieces included in this book were meant to make the audience and performers prepared to receive and work primarily on pieces of the 20th century music” – says László Sáry in his dedication. I am convinced that with the help of this book one can get closer not only to the music of our century but music of all ages, Music as such.

Reading the following pages one may find a path that we have never come across. Thus the question is given: How come that we have not managed to find it? How did it happen to be found not by us?

The answer is quite simple: what is discussed here was too obvious to be dealt with. This book

– is both for children and adults, listeners and musicians,

– needs only natural innate musicanship,

– is not intended to enrich our knowledge but refine our sensibility to the utmost,

– is not aimed to teach but make one discover the means of expression in music. László Sáry’s pedagogical masterpiece deserves to be called ”Sáry-method”. May there be a lot of people who get to know and like it, thereby having a chance to share, what is of great worth, with other people!
